The late 1980's and early 1990's saw the
rapidly growing trend of homeowners purchasing
their communities as a solution to increasing
rents. This purchase process was a way for the
residents to control their destiny.
Today there is yet another purchasing trend
hitting an all time high. Developers are coming
in and purchasing manufactured home communities
in record numbers and converting them to other
uses (i.e. condominiums and strip malls) by
obtaining a change of land use from the
local government. Residents all over the state
are receiving eviction notices and given
6 months to either move their homes or abandon
them. This fear of losing their homes, friends
and lifestyle is driving the desire for
manufactured home owners to buy their parks and
once again control their destiny.
